Another excellent piece. Much like "Button", this piece uses the sepia tone to create the feeling of rememberance or the feeling of stasis. The idea of a penny left behind is a common thought, as they are sometimes considered "worthless", although they are meant to have value associated with them. The fact that the penny is displaying the image of Abraham Lincoln is also interesting. The fact he is left behind along with the word "LIBERTY" in the dirt (which I would compare to a grave) gives a strong sense of abandonment, or the loss of a thought process or ideology. It is strong characteristically, and displays great meaning, even within something so small and something often regarded as "not worth the time".
